For Blizzle!
After a very bad streak of very bad luck with very bad storms, the comparably tame predictability of last weekend’s Nemo was very welcome. Shoveling out of 18 inches of snow might have been a pain in the ass, but it was a good alternative to bicep curls, and a hell of a lot better than losing power for 10 days and having to live off bagels for a month. It was also really fun to stay in, get some work done, bake some treats, do some renovations, and spend good quality time with my dog (whom we recently adopted, and with whom we are obsessed). Unlike prissy little yip yip lapdogs, my retriever/German shepherd wolf bear mix loves running around in the snow, and we went for a nice 4 mile hike in the blizzard. Homegirl was frolicking around like a land dolphin, digging tunnels, chasing footprints and having a blast. I got a workout from keeping my 65 pound behemoth on track and out of harm’s way of incoming traffic, plus, you know, hiking in a foot of snow, even in a pair of running shoes, is way more fun than the masochism of the StairMaster. A photographic account of our fun weekend below:
(Not a car in sight = perfect opportunity to teach my dog leash manners…)
(Someone’s ready to party!)
(Blizzard? What blizzard?)
(Asserting her domain!)
(I’m obsessed. Can you tell?)
(Oh and naturally, this is my walking the dog in a Blizzard outfit)
(My dog seems to approve…)
(Oh wait, dogs are colorblind. Just kidding!)
(A well-exercised beast is a happy beast)
(And then I made “Muffaletta” Naan Pizza for my husband on Friday)
(And banana bread muffins on Saturday)
(I’ll post a recipe for this soon!)

That sounds amazing, I want to come to your house and steal your blizzard outfit, dog and some of those muffins : ) Glad to hear the predicted storm was a relative non event and congrats on the new addition, beautiful and very happy looking doggy…
Haha thanks on all accounts!
Getting a dog was a long time coming but we had a specific idea in mind (big, dark, long-haired, good-natured) and this girl really fits the bill! She’s insane but a blast, and walking her twice daily allows me to showcase my penchant for neon leggings. I think I need to do a post on my exercise attire which you would appreciate… if you think neon tube socks are loud…just wait and see what kind of cray dayglo gems I have lurking in my closet!
Where do you get this magic stuff! Honest to god we have nothing remotely cool or interesting over here!
@Cakes yeah my goldmine is this web store called bskinz.com – not sure if they deliver outside of the US but it’s worth checking out! And hey, you guys have ASOS and TopShop, both of which carry an amazing array of gaudy athletic gear!
